2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel

With improved off-road performance, towing and payload capacity, the new 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel offers off-road truck buyers an even wider selection. Straight out of the factory, the Ram Heavy Duty Rebel offers a special fusion of technology, performance, and a distinctive exterior appearance.

The Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel builds on the design and off-road abilities of the Power Wagon while also providing a much-desired alternative for off-road truck buyers: a 6.7-liter Cummins Standard-Output Turbo Diesel I-6 engine. This engine generates 370 horsepower and 850 lb.-ft. of torque, and it starts producing power at 1,700 rpm.

The turbo diesel option comes standard with the 68RFE six-speed automatic transmission. The 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission is mated to the standard 6.4-liter HEMI V-8, which produces 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft of torque and has cylinder deactivation and VCT.

Although Rebel has similar exterior design cues to the Power Wagon, it also has unique badging and a Mopar sport performance hood. Additionally, the Ram Heavy Duty Rebel has a special off-road suspension, a rear limited-slip differential, a rear electronic locker, 20-inch wheels (optional 18-inch wheels are available with a late release), 33-inch off-road tires, and skid plates that guard the fuel tank and transfer case. While a spray-in bedliner, LED bed lighting, and a bed step are optional, cargo tie-downs are standard.

2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel models with the 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine are available with an integrated front-mounted WARN Zeon-12 winch, rated at 12,000 lbs. The winch has a special fairlead and fairlead retainer that are installed at the factory and use a flexible synthetic line that won’t kink or fray.

Whether loaded or unloaded, Ram Heavy Duty trucks already have a segment-leading suspension system that provides the best ride and handling. This unique five-link coil design is used exclusively in the new 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel to provide improved load carrying and articulation characteristics.

The best-in-class ride and handling qualities are further improved by an optional rear air suspension system. The 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel has a maximum payload of 3,140 pounds and a maximum towing capacity of 16,870 pounds.

Three different seating options are available from Rebel: a cloth bench or bucket seat, a bench or bucket seat upholstered in Bristol leather; and a bucket seat covered entirely in Natura Plus leather. Additionally, Rebel has a 360-degree Surround View camera with gridlines for the forward-view camera to aid in navigating obstacles.

To help drivers maneuver towing setups, this system gives a single display-screen view of both sides of a trailer. Nearly two dozen different menus are available on the 12-inch frameless digital gauge cluster that is available. The five repositionable tiles in the full-color cluster allow for at-a-glance data or quick and easy access to the most frequently used information. Drivers have a choice of digital or analog instrumentation. All cluster settings can be saved to a user profile.

Adaptive cruise control, full-speed forward-collision warning plus, Lane Keep Assist, Blind-spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Path detection are among the available safety features. Other features include automatic headlamps; a digital rearview mirror with towing mode; and rain-sensing wipers.

The crew cab version of the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel has a six-foot, four-inch box.
