2023 Camry Nightshade Special Edition

A Camry for Everyone, and Up to 52 MPG

The Nightshade Special Edition transforms the 2023 Camry into a premium sport sedan with its appearance and attitude. The 2023 Toyota Camry Nightshade comes in front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and hybrid variants. The Camry TRD model gets the black front grille with Sport Mesh insert. The Nightshade is also equipped with a black rear spoiler, mirror caps, and exterior emblems, as well as black-trimmed headlights and taillights until 2023.

The 19-inch matte bronze aluminum alloy wheels are the prominent new design feature for the unique Nightshade. These rims look fantastic against any of the three body colors available. The sport-tuned suspension is carried over from the regular SE grade. The Nightshade Edition is aimed at drivers who enjoy a car that receives a little extra attention or who value a designer look at a reasonable price.

Camry’s seductive, coupe-inspired style, as well as recognized Toyota quality and affordability, are just a few of the reasons why it continues to lead the mid-size sedan category. Overall, the 2023 Camry offers 18 various models, with something to suit nearly every budget and taste. The Nightshade Edition, in particular, is available on all four-cylinder and hybrid variants.

  • Five 4-cyl. FWD grades – LE, XLE, SE, SE Nightshade, XSE
  • Five 4-cyl. AWD grades – LE, XLE, SE, SE Nightshade, XSE
  • Five hybrid grades – LE, XLE, SE, SE Nightshade, XSE
  • Three V-6 grades – XLE, XSE and performance-tuned TRD

Given that fuel economy has recently risen to the top of many purchasers’ priority lists, the Camry line’s superb fuel efficiency scores are worth mentioning. With a manufacturer-estimated 51 MPG city, 53 MPG highway, and 52 MPG combined, the LE Hybrid is the clear winner. With manufacturer-estimated 28/39/32 MPG ratings, the LE FWD gas variant is also a class leader.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+

The Camry has received the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award on multiple occasions. This is the organization’s highest grade, and it recognizes the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ system’s standard features, which include:

  • Pre-collision System with Pedestrian Detection with Intersection Support
  • Road Sign Assist (RSA)
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
  • Lane Keeping Technology: Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/ SA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Sway Warning System
  • Automatic High Beams (AHB)

Traffic Sign Assist (RSA) uses a forward-facing camera to recognize certain road sign information and display it on the multi-information display (MID).

Blind Spot Monitor is designed to detect and notify the driver of vehicles approaching or positioned in the adjacent lanes, in addition to the TSS 2.5+ system, to enable Camry drivers change lanes with confidence. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) can provide additional peace of mind by detecting vehicles approaching from both sides when backing up and notifying the driver with a visual and audio warning.

These features are standard on TRD, XLE, and XSE models, and optional on some LE and SE models.Toyota’s Star Safety System, which incorporates Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, Anti-lock Braking System, and Smart Stop Technology, is standard on all 2023 Camry models. A basic backup camera is also included in every Camry. In addition, Toyota’s Rear Seat Reminder is standard on all 2023 Camry models. The device identifies whether a rear door was opened within 10 minutes of starting the car or at any time after starting the vehicle. If this is the case, a reminder message with multi tone chimes appears in the instrument cluster after the engine is shut off.

Agility and Ride Comfort

Camry’s rock-solid ride comes from extensive usage of high-tensile steel in the TNGA-K platform, as well as innovative attaching methods including laser screw welding and sophisticated adhesives. The Camry’s MacPherson-type strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension have been fine-tuned to give it a ride-handling balance worthy of premium cars (SE, XSE and TRD grades also have sport-tuned springs and shocks).

Camry developers seek a quiet ride, and the latest model improves on that by including noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) countermeasures typically reserved for premium vehicles. Foam and vibration-dampening materials are used throughout the car, as well as a thicker dash silencer pad that runs the length of the firewall area. A specific vibration-dampening coating is applied to a larger area of the underfloor, and noise-proofing material is applied to a larger area beneath the headliner.

High-Style, High-Function Cabin

The inside of the Camry combines functionality, exquisite style, and flawless fit and finish. The dash design offers the driver a sporty cockpit feel while providing ample outward view for both the driver and front passenger. Soft-touch luxury materials are used throughout the cabin. Depending on the model grade, inside trim in all grades has a sophisticated, higher-tech look with linear dark wood inlay or patterned metal. Depending on the exterior color, inside color options include Ash, Macadamia, or Black. For a touch of exotic sports car taste, the XSE grade has a special Cockpit Red interior.

One illustration of the vehicle’s high level of craftsmanship is the exquisite stitching on the front and rear seat surfaces. The textured herringbone seat pattern on the XLE grade looks sumptuous. The XLE and XSE models have ventilated front seats. The Camry’s three available screens provide information to the driver. Audio and navigation are combined on a floating 7- or 9-inch center touch-screen display. Customizable features and smart phone-like touch screen icons make operating easy and familiar.

Camry also offers a 7-inch multi-information display within the instrument cluster for even more utility. A 10-inch color Head-Up Display (HUD) is available on the XLE and XSE models, and it projects essential information such as speed and turn-by-turn navigation directions into the lower area of the windshield. All Camry grades have automated dual zone climate control, save the LE, which has conventional air conditioning. An electric compressor and a humidity sensor are used in the hybrid version’s system. Rear seat vents are standard on the XLE and XSE Hybrid grades, and may be added to the LE and SE as a package upgrade.
